HP Vows To Lift Up SMB VARs
Hewlett-Packard is set to unveil an SMB engagement model that will include compensation changes intended to drive more channel-friendly behavior.
The changes, the details of which have not been disclosed, will impact HP direct telesales reps and will go into effect soon, said John Thompson, vice president and general manager of HP's Americas Solution Partners Organization, at Ingram Micro's VentureTech Network conference last week. "This is going to make that call center a lot more partner-friendly in terms of driving business going forward," he said.

Lenovo U.S. Sales Chief: We Won't Circumvent VARs
Stephen Mungall, who will be the top U.S. sales executive at Lenovo once the China-based computer vendor closes its acquisition of IBM's PC business, vowed that the company's PC direct telesales reps won't call solution provider customers.
"Your customers are your customers," Mungall told several hundred solution providers in a presentation at Ingram Micro's VentureTech Network conference in Atlanta. "We are not going to have people call them from a direct standpoint." Mungall oversees inside sales and partner sales for Lenovo.
