Symantec Names Forsythe VAR Of The Year

Symantec's an important company; it employs over 17,500 people, operates in more than 40 countries, and has a market cap of about $14.7 billion. It's a big deal, then, that Forsythe Solutions Group was named "VAR of the Year" by Symantec.

Forsythe is rather sizable, too. It's got about 900 employees and 50 offices spread across the U.S. and part of Canada. Also, the company's been around since 1971, which speaks to a certain resilience.

Anyway, with respect to the VAR of the Year title, Randy Cochran, Symantec's vice president of North American channel sales, explained in a statement, "The 2009 Channel Partner Awards recognize the focus of our partners who have truly invested in themselves and Symantec to deliver solutions that help customers reduce costs and minimize risks to deliver a near-term return on investment."

And Michael Qualley, Forsythe's senior vice president of systems and technology, said in response, "Forsythe is committed to helping our clients optimize their computing environments by providing them with solutions that enable them to solve operational problems from high availability computing to email archiving."

Other VARs may be able to learn something by studying Forsythe's operation, and it's possible that this affair will afford VARs of all types a higher profile.
